Ravi Aswani speaks on some of the common problem areas in relation to contracts for the sale and purchase of second hand ships, focusing on the widely used 1993 Norwegian Saleform. He also considers the potential use of s44 of the Arbitration Act 1996 to seek an urgent order from the Commercial Court permitting inspection of the ship that is the subject of a sale and purchase contract in circumstances where disputes are forming as to the condition of the ship at the time for delivery.
