This seminar considers the impact of the Bribery Act 2010 on the shipping industry. In particular the seminar will cover the following:

• An overview of the offences under the Bribery Act including the new 'corporate offence'.
• The jurisdictional reach of the Act.
• Areas of particular difficulty, namely facilitation payments and corporate hospitality.
• The defence of 'adequate procedures' and the steps that a commercial organisation should consider taking as regards 'adequate procedures' to prevent bribery.
